Imperial Beach is excited to introduce a new way to enjoy the 4th of July. Due to a last-minute cancellation of the anticipated fireworks display, the City has contracted with Verge Aero to produce a high-tech drone show from the iconic Imperial Beach Pier. The drone show will be synchronized with music that will be broadcast at Pier Plaza and also available on personal devices from the City’s website.
After two years of waiting, the City of Imperial Beach was set to celebrate the 4th of July with shells launched from the pier. But with a last-minute cancellation, Imperial Beach quickly pivoted to replace the show with something equally fun and exciting, but less noise, smoke and debris. The drone show will bring a spectacular show to both residents and visitors alike.
Verge Aero will be producing shows in Vail, Colorado, and the Lake Tahoe area this 4th of July to reduce fire potential from traditional fireworks. They have even been featured on America’s Got Talent becoming the Extreme Contestant and Golden Buzzer winner from none other than Simon Cowell for their incredible drone light show performance. They have performed on other large stages such as Burning Man, Petco Park, and Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas. The show will kick off in Pier Plaza at 7:30 p.m. with a performance from Marine Band San Diego and the drone light show by Verge Aero to follow shortly after dark.
We encourage residents and visitors to come early to get a seat but want to remind everyone that our park hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Seacoast Drive will be open for bus access, but parking will not be available at any time from Palm Avenue to Imperial Beach Blvd. There is a bus stop in Pier Plaza for the easiest access to the show for those not quite within walking distance.
We are looking forward to celebrating this year! We want to create a safe and memorable show for our residents to celebrate their independence this 4th of July.
